Find out more about our tummy tuck procedure to find out if it’s right for you.

When it comes to getting plastic surgery, our Elmhurst, IL, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Alexandrina Saulis wants her patients to be well informed and confident in any treatment they receive. Of course, this also means providing patients with the most accurate and in-depth information possible so they can make the right decisions for themselves regarding their health, confidence and appearance. If you’ve been thinking about abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, here are some things you should know first,

You’ll Need to Be Close to Your Goal Weight

While abdominoplasty can be a great way to tighten and contour the body, it’s important to recognize that this procedure is not a weight-loss strategy or fat-reduction surgery such as liposuction. To be considered a good candidate for an abdominoplasty, you’ll need to be within 10-15 pounds of your healthy ideal weight in order to receive the most benefit from this procedure.

There Will Be a Scar

While Dr. Saulis always utilizes the most advanced and latest surgical techniques, even so, there will be a scar left behind (as with any surgery). This hip-to-hip scar will fade over time, and there are creams that can help to speed up the fading process; however, since the scar does run from hip to hip, this means that it won’t be visible when wearing clothes or even a bikini, but it’s still important to recognize that you will have a scar.

You’ll Need Time to Heal

After surgery, the most important thing you can do for yourself and your body is to give yourself ample rest and recovery time. You will want to take a few days off work after your surgery so that you can focus on healing. You will also need to avoid any strenuous activities including heavy lifting for the next six weeks. Our Elmhurst, IL, plastic surgeon will give you the green light when it’s safe to return to your physical and everyday activities.

Your Health is Our Top Priority

We understand that nothing is more important than your health. Since the pandemic, we’ve taken additional precautions and safety measures to ensure that our patients always feel safe and protected while at our practice. We have increased cleaning and sanitizing methods to follow CDC guidelines. We have limited the number of patients we see in a day and all of our staff are wearing the appropriate PPE. If you are feeling ill, we ask that you call us right away to reschedule your appointment.
