If you want to increase the size of your breasts then you may want to consider breast augmentation. Here some of the most commonly asked questions regarding this procedure:

What can breast augmentation do?

The purpose of breast augmentation surgery is to improve and enhance the size and shape of your breasts. Many women choose to get breast augmentation to improve their body’s proportions or to feel more confident in their appearance.

What’s involved in this cosmetic procedure?

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia so you will not be awake during the surgery. A subtle 2-3 inch incision will be made under the breasts and a silicone-based implant will be placed into the subpectoral area of the breast, which will still make it possible to examine breast tissue during a routine mammogram without the implant causing an obstruction. In most cases, breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure and it takes anywhere from 1-2 hours to complete.

What is the recovery process like?

It’s normal to experience discomfort, swelling and bruising after your surgery. This will go away in a couple of weeks. Stitches will be placed for over a week and you may begin to slowly go back to regular activities (as long as they aren’t strenuous) within a few days. You should avoid strenuous activities for at least four weeks following the procedure. You may also be prescribed pain medication to temporarily alleviate any discomfort you experience during the healing process.

Will scars be visible?

The goal of our cosmetic surgeon is to make sure to keep scars from surgery as minimal and less visible as possible. The incision will be made under the breast so you won’t be able to see the scar and can be hidden under a bra or bikini. If you choose to get breast augmentation surgery along with another procedure such as a breast lift then the scar may be larger and more visible.

Who is a good candidate for breast augmentation?

A good candidate will be someone who is in good health that wants to enhance the size and shape of their breasts. It’s important that you understand what to expect from this or any cosmetic treatments they receive, and that you have realistic expectations about what breast implants can offer you. We would be happy to discuss your treatment goals with you to find out if breast augmentation is right for you.
